Remove yourself from Truecaller

Estimated time: 2 minutes. Difficulty: easy.

Steps

  1. If you have ever used the Truecaller app, deactivate your account inside the app first (see the note below). Skip this if you never installed it.
  2. Open the Truecaller unlisting page. Scroll past the sales pitch and click "No, I want to unlist".
  3. Enter your phone number in international format with country code (e.g. +1 for the US), solve the CAPTCHA and confirm.
  4. You get an on-screen confirmation. No email, SMS code or ID is required.
  5. Truecaller says it "can take up to 24 hours before the number gets removed"; allow 48 hours.
  6. Confirm by having a friend with Truecaller look your number up, or by searching it on truecaller.com.
Unlisting only works for numbers that are NOT attached to a Truecaller account — if you ever installed the app, deactivate the account first (in the app: profile → settings → Privacy Center → "Deactivate my account"), otherwise the request is silently ignored. Unlisting cannot be reversed short of re-registering. The name Truecaller shows for you comes from other users' address books, so if you only want it corrected, the app is the route.
