Remove yourself from State Records

Estimated time: 5–10 minutes. Difficulty: easy.

Steps

  1. Open the State Records removal page — it is the "Do Not Sell / Share My Personal Information" link in the footer of staterecords.org. The same form lives at infotracer.com/optout — both belong to InfoPay and feed the same database.
  2. Enter your first name, last name and state (city is optional) and click "Submit".
  3. On the results page find your row and tick the box under "Select Record". You can tick more than one. Click "Remove Data".
  4. Enter an email address, add a comment if you like, solve the CAPTCHA and click "Submit".
  5. Open the email from privacy@privacy.staterecords.org and click the confirmation link. No phone number or ID.
  6. State Records quotes 72 hours. Re-search after a few days; if it is still there, email privacy@staterecords.org.
State Records is an InfoPay/InfoTracer brand and they say a confirmed opt-out is applied across their affiliates — still, search InfoTracer separately and confirm. New public-record pulls create new reports, so come back every six months. Judges, prosecutors, law enforcement and their household family can instead email privacy@staterecords.org with the subject "Attention Covered Person Removal Request".
