Remove yourself from PeopleWhiz
Estimated time: 15–20 minutes plus a wait for ID review. Difficulty: hard.
Steps
- Open peoplewhiz.com, scroll to the footer and click "Remove My Info" (it lives at peoplewhiz.com/remove-my-info).
- Ignore the big search bar at the top. Under "Start By Searching Your Public Records", click the "Here" link, then enter your first name, last name, city and state and click "Search Now".
- Find the listing that is actually you (check age, past addresses, relatives) and click "That's Me".
- Enter an email address you can open right now and click "Next". A throwaway address is fine — it is only used to confirm the request.
- Choose how you will prove your identity. PeopleWhiz says "ID required" and will not finish the removal without it: upload a photo of a government ID, or pick the fax or mail option. Cover everything except your name and photo before you upload. Solve the CAPTCHA and click "Next".
- Open the email from PeopleWhiz and click "Confirm Opt-out". You will get a second email saying the opt-out is "in process".
- PeopleWhiz quotes up to 5 business days after all the required information is in, then another 24–48 hours for its servers to refresh. Clear your browser cache and search peoplewhiz.com for yourself again to confirm.
This is one of the more painful manual opt-outs because of the ID step. PeopleWhiz also runs peoplewhizr.com under the same brand — that site has its own removal form. Its older clones (peoplewhiz.net, peoplewhized.net, peoplewhizr.net, peoplewizard.net) are now parked domains. PeopleWhiz refreshes its data regularly, so an opted-out listing can come back; re-check every few months.
