Remove yourself from People Finder

Estimated time: 10 minutes. Difficulty: easy.

Steps

  1. Open the People Finder opt-out page. If that link 404s (it did when we checked), go to peoplefinder.com, scroll to the footer and click "Exercise My Data Privacy Rights" — PeopleFinder.com is "powered by Intelius", so you land in the PeopleConnect Suppression Center.
  2. Enter an email you can open right now, agree to the terms and click Continue.
  3. Open the verification email from PeopleConnect and click the link within 15 minutes — it expires.
  4. Enter your date of birth, tick the verification box and click Continue, then enter your full legal name. You may also be asked for a one-time code sent by email or SMS.
  5. Find your record, set "Desired Behavior" to "Suppressed" and click Save. No ID upload.
  6. Allow 48 hours (up to a few weeks for every site to catch up), then search peoplefinder.com for yourself to confirm.
Do not confuse PeopleFinder.com (this one, a PeopleConnect / Intelius site) with PeopleFinders.com (a different company with its own opt-out). One PeopleConnect suppression covers PeopleFinder.com, Intelius, TruthFinder, Instant Checkmate, US Search and ZabaSearch. It is a suppression, not a deletion, so re-check a couple of times a year.
