Remove yourself from PeopleByName

Estimated time: 5 minutes. Difficulty: easy.

Steps

  1. Find your record: on peoplebyname.com search by phone number, or browse the people directory by the first letter of your surname, then your first name.
  2. On your entry, note the Record ID shown in the top-right corner. You do not need to open the record.
  3. Open the PeopleByName removal form.
  4. Enter first name, last name, an email address (a throwaway is fine), the Record ID and a one-line reason, tick the "I'm not a robot" box and click "Request Removal".
  5. No verification link, phone call or ID follows. You get an email once the record is gone.
  6. Repeat for each Record ID, then search again the next day to confirm.
PeopleByName is a raw phone-book dump, so you will probably have several entries (each old address or number is its own record with its own ID). Submit the form once per Record ID. They say removal takes under 24 hours and send an email when done. Records re-appear when a new data file is loaded — check again in a few months.
