Remove yourself from FastBackgroundCheck

Estimated time: 10 minutes. Difficulty: easy.

Steps

  1. Open the FastBackgroundCheck opt-out form. If that lands on the info page, click "Opt-Out Form" under "How to Opt Out".
  2. Enter an email you can open right now, tick the agreement box, solve the reCAPTCHA and click "Begin Removal Process".
  3. Search for yourself with full name, city, state and ZIP. Find your entry and click your name (or the blue "Free Public Records" button under it).
  4. On your record page, click the red "Remove my record" button.
  5. Open the confirmation email from FastBackgroundCheck and click the removal link within 24 hours — after that it expires and you start over. No phone number or ID required.
  6. FastBackgroundCheck says 24–72 hours. Search fastbackgroundcheck.com again after a few days to confirm.
FastBackgroundCheck and SmartBackgroundChecks run near-identical opt-out tools, but each site needs its own request. One request per listing, so repeat for old addresses and maiden names. The site rebuilds from the same public-record feeds as everyone else — expect to re-do this every few months.
