Remove yourself from CheckPeople

Estimated time: 10 minutes. Difficulty: easy.

Steps

  1. Open the CheckPeople opt-out page (they call it the "Suppression Center"). Do not search for yourself from the homepage — that path ends at a paid-report paywall.
  2. Enter an email you can open right now, tick the box agreeing to the terms and to transactional emails, and click Continue.
  3. Open the verification email from CheckPeople and click the link. It takes you to the actual removal tool.
  4. Search for yourself (first name, last name, city, state), pass the human check, find your record and click "Remove Record". Check age, addresses and relatives so you are not removing a namesake.
  5. Confirm the details and submit. If a second email with a "Confirm Request" button arrives, click it — nothing is processed until you do. No phone number or ID is required.
  6. CheckPeople quotes about 48 hours; some removals take 5–7 days. Search checkpeople.com again after a week to confirm.
CheckPeople runs the same opt-out system (same form, same "Confirm Request" email) as UnMask.com and Information.com, but each site needs its own request. CheckPeople refreshes from public records, so check back every few months and re-submit if you reappear.
