Remove yourself from AdvancedBackgroundChecks

Steps

  1. Open the AdvancedBackgroundChecks opt-out page (their old /removal address is dead; this is the "Do Not Sell or Share" link in the footer).
  2. Under "I am", pick "The subject of the request". Enter your first and last name and an email address, then click Submit. The page is protected by reCAPTCHA.
  3. Open the email from AdvancedBackgroundChecks and click the link to the opt-out form. It expires after 24 hours.
  4. Fill in the form accurately so it matches your listing. Their own warning: omitting or fudging details "will only hinder the opt-out process".
  5. You get a confirmation page and a confirmation email. No phone number or ID upload. Prefer the phone? Call (855) 240-6392.
  6. They promise a second email "within 45 days" when the request is fully processed. Most listings drop in a few days — search advancedbackgroundchecks.com after a week to confirm.
AdvancedBackgroundChecks says outright that it "regularly receive[s] new public records so even if you opt out, your publicly available information may appear ... again" and recommends you "periodically refresh your opt-out request". Take them at their word: re-check every few months.
